BJ’s Goals

02/9/2007

I’ve been a bum lately. I’ve been going to sleep late, and getting up late. I drink way too much soda…so much that if I don’t drink it a couple times a day, I have withdrawal and get headaches – I know that’s a pretty lame addiction. I have some web projects I’ve been meaning to work on; one is poker related that I started and have ignored for a few weeks, the other is a redesign of this site which has not started yet. I’m out of shape and tired a lot. When I get sufficient rest I am more productive, when I have productive days, I am in a better mood…I even hear exercise elevates your mood too…what on earth could motivate me to do all of there things?

In steps Toine. That’s right, Anthony is my ultimate motivator…well at least he’s helping to kick start things. Toine wanted to have a little contest of mind and body. Starting February 1st Anthony, Stan, Steve, and I all did one push-up, one sit-up, and one squat. Feb 2nd we did two of each, on the 3rd we do 3, etc. The winner of said contest is the person lasts the most days without missing any. There is no prize (that I know of) other than bragging rights which the winner will surely over use. I previously announced on Stever’s blog that I would be the Kramer of this contest (the first one out)…well I am officially renouncing that announcement. My new goal is anything but last. I know that is a bold statement…but I am hoping to beat just one person. Stan is entirely too confident that he will win and must be beaten, I probably won’t be the one to do it, but there’s a possibility…cause not last does include first.

To help me achieve/track my goals, I’ve signed up for Joe’s Goals which is a free goal tracking web app. I’ve even included a badge on the bottom left under the archive links so everyone can follow my progress (or lack thereof). Joe’s Goals let’s you track both positive goals (Such as “Toine’s Exercise Contest” and “Wake up at 7am”) and negative goals (such as “Drinking Soda” and “Staying up late”). I currently have seven positive goals and three negative, each which can be weighted by importance so a minor infraction won’t hurt my overall score as much as a major infraction (and also won’t help as much for a positive goal). For example if I run (worth +2 points) but also stay up late (worth -1 point) then my score for that day would be +1. Goals will be added, modified, or archived as needed…hopefully this will help me stay on point and be less of a bum.
