So a couple weeks ago I went to New York to visit Stan. We went to NBC studios to see a taping of Conan …but the show was off that week. The only thing taping was “Dr. Keith Ablow” – the topic: “Adult Virgins”. Well the show aired earlier this week and we got a couple seconds of time on the air…without further ado:

After nearly two months of anticipation it has finally arrived. I am now the proud owner of a TiVo fire remote. After I opened the package I thought TiVo made a mistake because all I saw was a regular plain dark grey remote (identical to my current remote)… a second later I saw that the fire remote was indeed a regular remote with a fire decal for the top…a little lame, but better than just getting a regular remote.
I present you with entirely too many pictures of a remote control:

Bonus Micro Blog: I am playing fantasy basketball for the first time ever. I am in a league with stanus.net (who has his own basketball blog: The Mighty Mavs)and we were matched up for week one… Well my “Toine Balls!?” kicked the asses of his “Brooklyn Ballas”. I completely pwned and humiliated him with my superior basketball knowledge and fantasy skill. It has nothing to do with luck or Stanus himself helping me pick my team…after all I picked up elite players such as Yaroslav Korolev all on my own.

Apparently I wasn’t the only person that voted…it seems a record of some sort for a non-presidential election year. Even candroid voted. Every Democrat incumbent retained their position and republicans pretty much got demolished in the house (Making Nancy Pelosi the first ever femaile Speaker of the House). This just in from The Onion: Politicians Sweep Midterm Elections.
Virginia…why you gotta make us bite our nails? It looks pretty good for Webb as is, but recounts haven’t worked out so hot for Dems in the past. I not only demand Allen and Webb votes be recounted….but I demand that all write-in votes for Alan Webb be recounted! I think this is another butterfly ballot situation….Virginia voters are split because they all thought they were voting for Alan Webb, former Virginia high school track star turned Olympic athlete who ran a great race …get it? Alan Webb in 2006!

Seriously though, the third party candidates in Virginia(IG – Glenda “Gail the Rail” Parker) and Montana(L – Stan Jones [not to be confused with my future husband Stanus Jones]) are a double edged sword. I want this country to be able to choose between 10+ equally powerful parties…well you’ve got to start somewhere and I salute the third party candidates for that. But the downside to running is often voters who vote for a third party would have likely voted democrat if that candidate had not been on the ballot. When an election comes down to less than a percentage point, the 1+ percent of third party voters could have tipped the scales. If I didn’t think Virginia would have been so close I would have voted for a third party candidate who’s views actually resemble mine. Instead I took the cowards route out…I voted against the lesser of two evils.
The republicans and democrats often appear identical – but yesterday across the country people overwhelmingly voted anti-republican, anti-war, and anti-bush. That is why there was such a high voter turnout – people saw this as a national election, not a local one. Voting numbers approached that from Presidential elections because that is how people viewed this election.
And now starts the recount…Alan Webb all the way!
Update: Sounds like there won’t be a recount after all…one of the Webbs wins it after all! And Rumsfeld resigns – bonus!
