2 CommentsLast Tuesday Dwayne and I headed to Ned Devine’s in Herndon to play in their weekly free poker tournament. I ended up taking second place – but more importantly this sparked the return of PokerJobber after about 2.5 months.
Fantasy basketball update: I am 4-1 in my match ups (26-18-1 in category match ups). This puts my “Toine Balls!?” in 3rd place overall…sadly Stan’s “Brooklyn Ballas” are tied for 6th place. Some may chalk it up to beginners luck, but in reality I am just that awesome. My strategy is this: set my daily line ups a month in advance so that I don’t forget to put people in on a day-to-day basis. That works out to awesomeness.
In Bee-Log news, Kevin got mod_rewrite working on the Bee-Log server… what might you ask is mod_rewrite? (if you don’t ask then skip this paragraph) Mod rewrite is an apache module that transforms a given URL into a usable format. In the past when browsing the Bee-Log you might see a URL like this: http://www.btjones.com/index.php?year=2005&month=11&page=2 …with mod_rewrite, the URL in the browser is a much prettier http://www.btjones.com/2005/11/page/2/ – then apache rewrites the pretty URL to the look like the ugly one on the backend (something the end user never sees). Luckily for me WordPress has some built in support for mod_rewrite so now all my urls are purty. Awesomeness.
Oh, and I saw this while installing IE7. I guess microsoft thinks they own google now…

Last night after work Kevin and I went back to his apartment to play with his Wii. The only game he has right now is Wii Sports in which you play baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, and boxing using real life motions that use the wii-mote’s gyroscope. Say for instance you are bowing….well you have to hold the ball up by your chest and then swing it to your side and forward to release the ball. The game is so accurate that you can twist you wrist while throwing the balls to add spin in either direction. These real like motions are apparently Nintendos attempt to attract non-gamers…and it just might work. I wasn’t planning on getting a Wii (I don’t own a gamecube and only played one a handful of times), but I may give it some thought.
After a few hours of Wii-ing I went home and felt inspired. I only had two songs left to conquer on Guitar Hero in expert mode and honestly I didn’t think I’d complete them both…after a few (tens) of tries I got through them. For my efforts I was given the “Battle Axe” guitar. It feels like when I first unlocked the 150cc difficulty on Super Mario Cart. My life is now complete…

Oh yeah…and there’s this whole Michael Richards thing which is pretty bizzarre. Stan has some commentary over at stanus.net: Michael Richards’ least funny line.
Interesting web site I found: Your Name on Toast ….it’s exactly what it says.
