I’m Sick

11/1/2006

BTJones in Times SquareI’m working (as little as possible) from home today. I’m sick and I feel like crap, so that means it’s time to catch up on some blogging.

First things first: Toine (of doh blog fame) is officially a word in the Urban Dictionary. Check out the definition and give it a thumbs up while you’re there.

This past weekend Katie and I made a trip to New Jersey to visit her family. While in the area I figured I go and visit stanus.net himself in his new abode of New York City. Since Stan has yet to get a job he was free to meet me on Friday…well he was free to meet me after I convinced him to get up extra early to meet me in Times Square at 12:45 in the afternoon. Yeah he’s a bum. We grabbed some food where Stan expressed his disappointment in the amount of bee-log output as of late…maybe this super blog will keep him satisfied for a while.

The picture I would have used for this blog (had it ever been taken) was Stan embracing the “naked cowboy” that always plays his guitar in Times Square. We saw him but by the time we made it in his direction he was gone…maybe a bit too cold for his whitey tighties. Instead this is me in Times Square (Photo courtesy Stanus)

Stan really wanted to go to MTV to get on TRL (Total Request Live) but I convinced him we should walk a couple bocks to go to Rockefeller center so we could check out the NBC studios and possible get standby tickets to see Conan. Well Conan was on vacation but we did get to see Dr Keith Ablow (Topic: I don’t want to be a virgin anymore). This was not too exciting – Dr Keith didn’t really need to be a doctor…I think Riki Lake would have dove into these peoples problems more than Albow did. After yelling things toine-related during audience reactions/applause we slipped out after the show was over (they were going to record more segments for other shows after that! But we had had enough Albow for one sitting).

After Albow we went on the NBC studio tour – since we were the 2nd to last group of the day, Stan and I made up 50% of the tour group. The highlight of the tour was checking out the Saturday Night Live studio as they were painting sets and getting things set up for the show. The studio definitely looked smaller than I would have imagined…but so did all the sets we saw that day (Dateline, Ablow, and on a different trip the Conan set).

MREOverall it was a good weekend…before heading home my future father-in-law gave me an MRE (Meal Ready to Eat) to try out. In a future episode of the Bee-Log I will prepare the meal and review it here.

Go vote on Tuesday. If you live in Virginia, vote no on ballot question #1, and vote for a change in the Senate race….polls say this will be a close one so get out there and vote for Webb, or vote for a third party, but most importantly just get out and vote.

[...] So a couple weeks ago I went to New York to visit Stan. We went to NBC studios to see a taping of Conan …but the show was off that week. The only thing taping was “Dr. Keith Ablow” – the topic: “Adult Virgins”. Well the show aired earlier this week and we got a couple seconds of time on the air…without further ado: [...]

[...] I finally got around to making the MRE I got over two months ago. Might as well try out what our combat troops in the field are eating (I assume Meals Ready to Eat [MREs] are only used when not at a base while in the field). This MRE happened to be a beef enchilada, yum. [...]
