The Wave

09/12/2006

It was a dark, rainy morning last week as I was heading to work, waiting at a stop sign, and getting ready to pull out of my apartment complex. Waiting to turn left as cars went by, I see my car twin in the line of cars speeding by – the guy inside waved…and not a half-assed hand over the steering wheel waves…it was a whole arm in the air wave!

I know some Jeep owners do the wave, I guess it’s a kind of bond between owners. I never really understood it before…probably because I had a Camry. If Camry owners did the wave their arms would give out because the waving would never stop. Plus I think there are enough grandmothers that need to concentrate on seeing the blurry road in front of them – waving to fellow Camry owners might be a bit dangerous. I have now started the doing the wave to fellow tC owners when I see them in time. If you have a tC – get it going.

I’ve had the car for almost two months and I have 4,300 miles on it…wowers – almost time for the 5,000 mile maintenance. The gas price outside the office has dropped to $2.45 from $2.75 as last reported. Just a few miles down there road, there is an apparent gas war with a few stations offering $2.29 gas!

Last month I said I wanted to start golfing more often…well I’ve played exactly zero times since that first outing. Who wants to play some golf?

Mini owners are all about waving. In fact, I’ve gotten so use to it, that when I see a driver that doesn’t even give me a nod, I curse them a little bit.

[...] So it’s a week later and it still an amazing ride. We headed to my ‘rents this weekend and hit a 100mph a few times. Jessi didn’t even realize it, since the ride was so smooth. Hell I’ve even had other bimmers come up from behind and flash me a thumbs up. I guess that’s our group wave. [...]
