Bee-Log: Ultimate

“Do you know me?” “Do you know what I can do?” “Do you know where I can go?” “You will … Learn more on 3.2.06.” – Looks like a new viral marketing campaign has started over at www.origamiproject.com which asks these weird questions. The site even craves attention – it starts with a little floating bubble that says, “touch me”. Some people speculate that it could be a PSP or Ipod type device – I’m gonna jump on the bandwagon and say it’s an all purpose touchpad multimedia device(although with the full keyboard it could be more of a mini tablet PC). Tucker pointed me in the direction of these images:
Microsoft Oragami

More information is expected on March 2nd. For some reason there is even an rss feed that has one entry titled “hello” and reads, “hello…do you know me?” Image yanked from, and more info at engadget. I really hope they go with the uly two-toned white/yellow version. Who knows…maybe these images are completely fake and the new product will be some XBOX jobber.

Update: Looks like these pictures aren’t faked. There’s even a video of the oragami jobber. The www.origamiproject.com
web site updated today without actually showing anything cool. Just another flash animation saying it’s everywhere you are. I guess viral marketing kinda sucks when a video of the secret product gets released. I’m not sure what to say about oragmi till I see some specs – basically looks like a mini tablet pc minus the keyboard (which looks like an accessory)…or else a glorified PDA. From the looks of the video I’m gonna guess it’s closer to a tablet PC. Is this anything new and exciting? I don’t think so. There are probably some cool apps that could be developed, but I really don’t think they will be anything that couldn’t be used on a tablet PC. Maybe this will get more press and glamour associated with it and Paris Hilton will bling out her oragami jobber. If all the cool kids get one, then maybe I will too. Or maybe I’ll just buy a tablet PC.

Other Microsoft Tidbit: Different versions of the new OS were announced. I wasn’t surprised by most of them…home basic, home premium, some business jobbers, but the last one caught my attention: “Vista Ultimate – All the features of Home and Business in one.” The name sounds pretty sweet…I mean who would want dinky home basic…or even premium when you can get real ULTIMATE power.

Who Cares: Ask.com – formerly askjeeves.com has gotten rid of jeeves the weirdo butler. Anyone else remember when they actually made it look like jeeves was answering a question that you asked? I don’t think it’s been that way for years though. Now the page looks a bit more bare – a little more google-esque. Does anyone actually use ask.com? I did find out one neat thing ask.com offers when reading the MSM Money article: “Ask’s map section also offers walking directions”.
