Stever Online

12/18/2005

Holy crap I cannot wait any longer for Stever Online (www.steveronline.com) to go live. That’s right, Mr. Steve Lua Syckes is going to have his own personal place in the blogosphere (well, a cooler place than livejournal at least). Currently the site is “28%” complete. I can’t wait to hear his love for the Backstreet Boys, Toine, and Nate’s Noodle.

Speaking of Toine – I am calling for some action actione. I demand a doh’ blog and will take any measures needed to see dohblog dot com become a reality. I urge all of my loyal readers who demand a doh’ blog to write on your blogs or in my comments with your demands. We will be heard!

Off to sleep in good ol’ Stephens City (I’m home for the Jones Family Christmas). Much of the visit with the extended family revolved around poker…not because I brought it up, but because this was the first time I’ve seen most of them since I won the trip and they were quite interested…that and my computer illiterate grandfather is really getting into online poker so he had lots of questions for me. Now I just need to find him online so I can take all of his play money. As nate noodle would say…toodles.

Google Web Clips

Google Web Clips

Last week I started noticing ads and other links appearing at the top of my gmail inbox…wasn’t sure exactly what it was, but today I finally got around to checking it out. This one line is used to display syndicated feeds (which google calls “clips”) and unfortunately…ads. The cool thing is you can remove all the boring cooking and news feeds that Google has added by default and put in any feed you want…I started putting in a lot of blogs and such to test it out. When I started clicking around, I only saw an actual adsense ad after about 20 clicks.

I’m not quite sure yet if I’ll get bored with this since I extensively use SharpReader for all of my syndication pleasure. Fortunately you can disable the new feature alltogether (Settings -> Web Clips…or just click the “Customize” button in the web clips box…this however will disappear once gmail thinks you have finally mastered the customization). So is this new feature just an elaborate way to show more ads inside of gmail? I personally like the simplicity of my inbox and even though this is very small (and kinda cool) I don’t like the path it could lead to (more and more ads everywhere you look). Although I can’t really say much since the B-Log sold out and smudged it’s layout with ads….Google ads none-the-less.

Would this be considered a really simple really simple syndication reader(RS RSS R)?

Posted on the google blog. More on the gmail what’s new page and in the gmail: help center

Weekend update

Borgata - Atlantic City

Went to Atlantic City on Saturday with Carlos. We went to the Borgata which is not on the boardwalk and a very nice, new, clean casino. The poker room was even smoke free which is awesome. We both made some money which is always good – poker/trip details here.

The Redskins somehow pulled off a win on Sunday despite only scoring 10 points as an offense (special teams ran one back for another 7). I really hope the Redskins make the playoffs but don’t think it will happen. First off they have to win every game left in the season, THEN certain teams still need to lose. With the way Washington has been playing – an undefeated run to the finish seems improbable at best. With that said…the Reskins will take down the Colts in the Superest of Bowls this year.

Has anyone ever heard of Googlewhacking? Are there any Googlewhackers out there? (not to be confused with self whacking or whacking day). Basically any two word combination that produces one single result is a Googlewhack. You cannot use quotes and the words must be real. I have not been able to come up with one myself yet but I will keep trying. Someday I’ll be the best Googlewhacker around!
